Hi, I’m Jeff Yeomans
Our Coaching Approach
What is Personal Growth Coaching? – Personal growth is a form of coaching that focuses entirely on the self. This style of coaching aims to evaluate and assess your current strengths and weaknesses in order to improve a certain aspect of life.
Just as an athlete would have a coach to push and support them, a personal development coach is there to make you feel at ease and confident in your life. You deserve to be happy and proud of where you are; a coach will help you achieve that happiness and develop any skills you wish to improve.
Personal growth coaching could just be another name for life coaching because it gives the client the self awareness and the skills they need to increase their confidence, communication skills and assertiveness and improve their relationships with family, staff and colleagues.
I actually believe that all coaching is basically self improvement and personal or life coaching. In any coaching situation from coaching small business owners to career or executive coaching, there will be times when those skills are called for.
How do Personal Growth Sessions work?
Personal development is about increasing your self-awareness. I aim to pull out your strengths and weaknesses in order to identify the potential that already exists within you. This is often accomplished through a series of questions designed to help you recognize, accept and build upon your strengths and weaknesses.
In a sense, developing the self is like a spring clean. When cleaning your home, you will often go through each room, examining old memories and belongings, deciding whether you need them or not. Similarly, personal development is a way of improving one’s life by evaluating aspects of the self and putting them in order.
I will not offer direct advice and I will not tell you exactly what to do. What I will do is offer guidance and support through personal development plans and strategies, in order for you to practice and complete successful action steps at home.
These personalized plans will help you to begin the journey towards success and happiness.
Meet the Team
Jeffrey Yeomans – Over the last several years I have done a lot of research around business coaching and life coaching for workers. As a manager and since I started in leadership as a supervisor 18 years ago I have noticed a definite change in leadership styles and the development of coaching and training modeled around the employee.
I have worked in various industrial plants for the last 30 years and have worked my way from a trainee to a manager. Along the way I have been a witness to a dramatic change in management styles and employee engagement. Like many people in a technical environment I advanced up the ladder mainly because of my technical skills and by willingness to take on more responsibility. It was only after I became a supervisor did I realize that I needed to improve my leadership and coaching skills.
As I searched for training material related to coaching and leadership I came across a wide range of authors and leadership methods. The only problem with a majority of this training was it was designed for an office setting. Almost all the training for business leadership and business coaching was developed for white collar workers. Sales teams, management, hospitals, and non-profit businesses were the main focus of all the books I could find on the topic.
At first I did not think it was a problem because business leadership is business leadership regardless of the setting or the people being coached. It was not until I had been in supervision and management for a few years that I realized that a lot of the tips and suggestions for coaching people required them to be in the same office. I would often try some of the activities suggested by the authors to see if I could implement them in an industrial setting only to find out that it was more difficult then expected.
