Gallup on the Changing Nature of Work

Around the world, the great global dream is to have a good job.

Twenty years ago, my first coach recommended that I read Soar With Your Strengths* by Don Clifton and Paula Nelson. It was the first time I gave serious consideration to putting the bulk of my attention on my strengths.

This lesser-known book laid the groundwork for what would become StrengthsFinder. Since then, many of us have utilized Gallup’s insights from their extensive experience in management consulting and surveys.

On this week’s episode, Jim Harter, Gallup’s chief data scientist, shared the most recent findings on the changing nature of work. Gallup’s findings are detailed in the new book he’s co-authored with Jim Clifton, It’s the Manager: Gallup Finds That the Quality of Managers and Team Leaders is the Single Biggest Factor in Your Organization’s Long-Term Success*.
